The long anticipated opening of the completely revamped Israel Museum took place on a warm evening in Jerusalem on Sunday 25th July.

Museum Director James Snyder hosted the dedication ceremony attended by President Shimon Peres, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and four hundred other distinguished guests.

The $100 million revamp which doubled the exhibition space is the largest single philanthropic effort ever undertaken by a single museum in Israel with Mr Snyder going on to explain that this will be “many museums under a single roof”.

The Jewish Art and Life Wing, a cultural focal point of the museum, was design by Chanan de Lange and called for over 200 custom designed showcases to be developed, prototyped, manufactured and installed within a very tight timeframe.

ClickNetherfield are proud to have been chosen to provide some delightful new pieces of glass showcase engineering throughout the 8 galleries we worked in, along with innovative LED lighting solutions

The entrance gallery for Jewish Art & Life features fantastic cultural displays with cases rising some 4 metres high with “windows” formed in the imposing monolithic curving glass structures.

One of the highlights of the Jewish Art & Life Wing is the display of some 77 wall cases displaying a fantastic collection of Jewish Silver candelabra. The configuration, lighting and display of this part of the collection have to be seen up close to be appreciated, no photograph can surely do it justice.

ClickNetherfield became an integral and critical part of the client team delivering this highly challenging and transformational project on time and to the highest international standards.

The opening was attended by Managing Director Jim Stewart and Technical Director Mike Chaplin, both of whom were joined by ClickNetherfield’s Site Manager Bob Hunter who had pledged to remain on site right up until the opening tapes were cut and the firework party had been seen by all.

Director James Snyder acknowledged the commitment and professionalism of the ClickNetherfield team and in particular the site installation team led by Bob Hunter were praised for their performance.
