Access drawer units allow high density display and secure storage whilst providing visitor interaction within galleries.

An outer steel cabinet contains individual display drawers which are mounted on heavy duty slides. Each drawer is fitted with a locking glass top and can be customised with handles, label holders and front finishes such as timber.

Units can also be used as a plinth for other types of showcases.

Type of exhibits

Access units are ideally suited for small, possibly high value, one-sided exhibits such as coins, medals, archaeology, entomology, geology, textiles, documents and other personal effects. They are particularly helpful with light sensitive exhibits which are protected from light, except when drawers are open, thus reducing exposure levels. We do not recommend that fragile exhibits are displayed within Access display units due to the unpredictable nature of use by visitors.

Lighting

Lighting of exhibits can be external or by LED light bars mounted within drawers and linked to micro-switches so that exhibits are only lit when drawers are opened.

Protecting your exhibits

Conservation - The Access design solution is inherently well sealed, a facility tray can be included within each drawer and with careful selection of lining materials, drawers are suitable for the most sensitive of exhibits to be displayed.

Security - Anti-bandit glass can be used within the drawers, this is securely bonded into a steel frame and locked in position with two Abloy™ OF 400 locks to provide security and a wide range of keying options. The cabinet can also be fitted with a locking system to prevent drawers being opened. Alarm sensors are easily concealed within the case structure.
