Located in Manhattan, NYC, the Allison and Roberto Mignone Hall of Gems and Minerals at the American Museum of Natural History features 5000 mineral specimens from 98 different countries. This exhibition tells the story of how the vast diversity of mineral species originated on our planet, how they are classified and studied, and how they are used.
We were commissioned to design, manufacture and install 68 showcases of varying types. We worked closely with the client team, and with Kubik Maltbie who provided the fit out, as well as other specialist contractors to ensure that this project was a success.
COVID-19 was a huge factor that we had to work around; when we had completed the installation to around the 90% mark, we were removed from site due to repatriation laws imposed by the threat of the looming pandemic. We supported the on-site team remotely, allowing the client to successfully complete the final part of the installation. Once laws allowed and it was safe for our team to do so, we returned to site to make any final adjustments and to ensure perfect working order.
