The history of war
Conflict defines much of our history and continues to affect our lives. The Imperial War Museum North explores the effect of war through permanent and temporary exhibitions.
Housed in a remarkable building created by renowned international architect Daniel Libeskind, the Imperial War Museum North is dedicated to the history of war and the way it continuously shapes people's lives.
Located in the city of Manchester, the new museum displays a wide range of subject matter related to conflicts around the world, including military hardware, works of art, uniforms, medals, photographs and much more. In addition to the static displays there are regular audio-visual shows, which reverberate throughout the main gallery to dramatic effect.
For this project, we developed, manufactured and installed numerous Mono system and Inca system showcases, designed specifically to suit the diversity of objects displayed within the galleries.
Among these cases, unusual Mono system case fronts were produced in parallelogram format to echo the design theme throughout the museum and the internal silo display structures.
Inca system cases are built into the outer walls to create a time-line of events from WW1 through to the present day. Similar cases are built into the internal Silo walls in a complex arrangement.
Our Flex fibre optics are used throughout the cases to ensure a high quality and environmentally safe lighting system.
Many of the cases in the museum are fitted with concealed our Puffin humidity control systems, which are constantly monitored by Hanwell electronic monitoring systems linked to a central computer, all supplied, installed and serviced by us.
We are proud that our bespoke solutions have contributed to the creation of a unique display environment.
Highly imaginative museums often need bespoke solutions, ClickNetherfield rose to the challenging brief and delivered the required cases on time and on budget.
